Noida: Two laborers died on Monday night when a wall under construction in the basement of a four-storey building in Noida’s Sector 2 collapsed.
The workers were working in the basement and were tying an iron structure next to a freshly built wall in one part of the basement when the wall collapsed.
One of the deceased has been identified as Atam Das, who is thirty years old, while the other laborer has not been identified.
According to the police, the incident took place around 8 pm when the workers were tying the iron structure they were erecting, when the adjoining wall collapsed.
Sector 20 SHO Munish Chauhan told TOI that Gurpreet ReikiThe owner of the building A-35 in Sector 2 is based in the US and has given the space on rent.
“The work was going on for the last few days. The owner was getting it done by a contractor named Raju, who had brought three laborers to the spot,” a sub-inspector who reached the spot told TOI.
Additional DCP (Noida) Ranvijay Singh Told the Times of India that an entry was made in the register of the building in the name of Raju and three laborers.
“One of the laborers fled the spot along with Raju, while two remained buried under the concrete structure,” he said.
The police were informed minutes after the incident when the security guards raised an alarm.
By the time the police reached the spot, it was too late as one laborer had died while the other was breathing his last.
“While one of them was pulled out of the rubble, the other died on the way to the district hospital,” he said.
Police said that the incident is being investigated and is being investigated.
