DCP (Noida) Rajesh S said that a complaint was received from the CEO of a private news channel in Noida that a person has sent him an email saying that PM’s private secretary will talk to him. The accused impersonated as Abhijeet, personal assistant to PM Narendra Modi’s PS through WhatsApp chats and SMS and voice calls between June 18 and 22.
“Next day, a person claiming to be the PM’s PS called and claimed that a person named Bharat Verma should be given a job in the channel and was sending his resume. He wrote a message on WhatsApp to the CEO. When he reached the interview, the staff had some doubts and it was found that Bharat Sharma impersonated through the message,” he said.
It was found that Bharat collected information about employees close to the PM using research.
“His Twitter handle and WhatsApp were checked. He worked at a desk in a media house and used this tactic to get a better job. So far, it looks like he hasn’t contacted anyone else. Presently, due to the time of Covid, his current place of employment has taken a pay cut and he wanted to work for a big brand,” he said.
“He did the research and thought that if he used the higher approach, he would get the job easily,” the DCP said.
Two mobile phones and two SIM cards have been recovered from Bharat.
Bharat Sharma, a resident of Bahadurgarh, Haryana, lives in Gaur City Avenue.
