Noida man cheats of Rs 14 crores, arrested by Bhubaneswar Economic Offences Wing Police

Odisha: In Odisha’s Bhubaneswar, the Economic Offenses Wing of the police has caught a unique case of cheating. Here the official of the fitness company complained to the police that by rigging the QR code, a vicious resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh had cheated Rs 14 crore. However, the police have arrested the accused.

The Bhubeshwar police had arrested Karan Kumar Singh, a resident of Sector-19, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, in the case on July 6. The police have taken the accused to Bhubaneswar on a three-day transit remand. On behalf of EOW Inspector General JN Pankaj, it has been told that EOW had registered the case on June 29 on the basis of the complaint of Sanjib Kumar Parida, Chief Technology Officer of Bhubaneswar-based fintech company iServe Technology Pvt Ltd. Limited

The complainant had alleged that he had entered into an agreement during April-May 2023 with the directors of Noida-based company Payone Digital Services Private Limited. The complaint states that the agreement was to provide digital payment services and facilitate the Finotech service. Under this, the company had given its UPI API number for commercial use.

According to information, the arrested accused Karan Kumar Singh and his brother Lallu Singh are directors of Payone Digital Services Private Limited. EWO officials said that when the complainant’s company checked his account with FINO Bank, it was found that the amount in the account was very less.

An investigation revealed that Karan Singh and Lallu Singh allegedly fudged the QR code and embezzled Rs 14.33 crore. In a statement, the official said that money was fraudulently sent from Payout Wallet to over 125 different bank accounts. Officials of the complainant company have expressed apprehension that the scam may have a Chinese link.

Police suspect that many other accused are also involved in this complex and highly technical case. Because no such case has come to the fore before. EOW is taking the help of experts in this matter. So that the matter can be investigated thoroughly.
