Noida: Driver offers lift to strangers for money, they use chilli powder to steal SUV; two held

Noida: Two men have been arrested by the Noida Police for allegedly robbing an SUV on the pretext of taking a lift in Delhi and then overpowering its driver by using chilli powder. Officials gave this information on Monday. The Tata Harrier car, a Noida Sector-93 resident who works in Delhi, was being driven by a driver who offered a ride to four strangers in exchange for money, an official said. Citing the FIR, the officer said the strangers had entered the car in Noida and driven to Delhi, when they sprinkled chilli powder on the driver’s eyes and assaulted him, then took the vehicle to Gurugram in Haryana, where they threw him. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Saad Miyan Khan said that two accused have been arrested and the car has also been seized.

“Zero FIR was registered in this matter which happened in Delhi on 23rd September. Later the case was registered at Noida Sector 20 Police Station. Also, the officials of Phase 2 Police Station received information about the suspects being in their house area and arrested them on Sunday,” Khan said.

The official said that two suspects “Roshan Mishra and Anil Kumar” have been arrested, while two more of their accomplices are yet to be nabbed.

According to the police, a simple First Information Report (FIR) should be lodged at the police station under whose jurisdiction a crime has taken place. But in case of “Zero FIR” the complaint can be filed in any police station, irrespective of the area of ​​jurisdiction and subsequently it is transferred to the appropriate police station for action.

Police said the accused have been booked under sections 393 (dacoity), 411 (dishonestly obtaining property) and 34 (offence committed by several persons with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police said that both have been sent to jail.
