According to party sources, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge along with Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with Delhi leaders, including party in-charge Shaktisinh Gohil, Ajay Maken, Arvinder Lovely, Haroon Yusuf, Chaudhary Anil Kumar and others.

The Delhi unit of the Congress has conveyed to the party leadership that it is not in favor of any alliance with the AAP for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the party should also not support it on the issue of ‘ordinance’, sources said on Monday. .

According to party sources, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge along with Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with Delhi leaders, including party in-charge Shaktisinh Gohil, Ajay Maken, Arvinder Lovely, Haroon Yusuf, Chaudhary Anil Kumar and others.

During the meeting, the party leadership was told that there should be no alliance with the AAP, while Maken said that the party should not lend its support to the “ordinance” line.

The meeting comes in the wake of a request by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Kejriwal along with Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi on the ordinance issue.

In a tweet on Friday, Kejriwal said, “Looking forward to meeting Congress President Kharge ji and Rahul Gandhi ji this morning to discuss the general attack on the federal structure and seek Congress’s support in Parliament against the undemocratic and unconstitutional ordinance passed by the BJP government.” Asked for time prevailing political situation. ,

Following the AAP leader’s request, Congress sources on Friday said the party is still considering his request.

Last Monday, Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal said, “The Congress party has not taken any decision on the issue of the ordinance brought against the Supreme Court judgment on the powers of the Government of NCT of Delhi to appoint officers. It will consult its state units and other like-minded parties on this. The party believes in the rule of law and at the same time does not condone unnecessary confrontations, political witch-hunts and campaigns based on lies against political opponents by any political party.”

Several Congress leaders from Delhi and Punjab have opposed supporting Kejriwal on the issue. Senior Congress leaders like Ajay Maken, Sandeep Dikshit and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa had already said that the party should not support AAP.

After meeting party leaders from Delhi, Kharge held a meeting with leaders from Punjab, which was attended by party leaders Pratap Singh Bajwa, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Raja Waring, Manish Tewari, Harish Chowdhary, Ashu and others.

Keeping in mind the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Kharge is scheduled to hold a meeting with former Chief Minister Kamal Nath and several other top leaders at the party headquarters here.

The meeting regarding Madhya Pradesh is to begin soon as senior party leaders like JP Aggarwal, Arun Yadav, Suresh Pachuri, Vivek Tankha, Govind Singh have reached the party headquarters.

Later in the day a meeting on Rajasthan is also scheduled with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, his former deputy Sachin Pilot, Govind Singh Dotsara, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and others.
