For coach Rana, Manu’s triumph was all too expected, as he shared his unwavering belief in the shooter and her abilities, and showered praise on her historic achievement.

It was no fluke, nor a long shot. It was destiny and years of hardwork in the making that yielded Manu Bhaker her historic Bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol, says the Olympian’s coach Jaspal Rana.

Manu Bhaker finished her magical run in the final on Sunday after 22 shots, scoring 221.7, falling just 0.1 short of overthrowing second placed Yeji Kim in the penultimate series.

With her bronze, 22-year-old Bhaker broke India’s 12-year Olympic medal drought in Shooting, and also became the first female shooter to win a medal in the same event for India.

The Indian youngster also Bhaker finally brought to end a 12-year medal drought for the Indian contingent in Shooting at the Olympics, bringing India their fifth medal in Shooting across their Olympics history.

For coach Rana, this was all too expected, as he shared his unwavering belief in the shooter and her abilities, and showered praise on her historic achievement.

“I have no reason not to see this coming. Definitely, I was confident and by God’s grace we got this medal and I am more happy because Manu has won the first medal for the country. History has been made and I am really proud of her, and I am really happy,” stated Rana in an interview with PTI after Bhaker’s win.

For Bhaker though, this is not the end yet at the Paris Olympics. More success shall be expected from the Indian contingent on Monday, as yet another crop of shooters consisting of the likes of Sarabjot Singh, Rhythm Sangwan. Arjun Singh Cheema and Bhaker herself again, will march onto the qualifiers of the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event.
