No New Levy Or Hike In Taxes As Tmc Presents ₹3,299cr Budget | Thane News – Times of India

Thane: The Thane municipal administration presented a ‘realistic and frugal’ budget outlay of Rs 3,299 crore for fiscal 2022-23 while revising the current fiscal budget from Rs 2,755 crore to Rs 3,510 crore. Residents have been spared from any new levy or increase in existing taxes in the next fiscal when the next civic elections are scheduled.
Even as municipal commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma admitted to Covid impacting various revenue sources, he said, the administration has managed to cover all aspects to ensure residents get better civic facilities in the coming year.
The corporation has focused on completing ongoing works and desired from announcing any big-ticket projects. Among notable projects planned next fiscal are a memorial for late Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighea film institute, multi-specialty hospital at Parking plaza and allocations for cluster redevelopment.
With traffic remaining a crucial issue, the administration has allocated funds to streamline vehicular movement. Citizens could also expect a smoother drive as the administration has allocated Rs 260 crore for a pothole-free drive. “We have also allocated Rs 100 crore for Covid management and are focusing more on cent per cent vaccination,” said Dr Sharma. Education seems to have been largely neglected with an allocation of only Rs 20 crore. tnn
