No conflict in Rajasthan Congress over cabinet reshuffle, decision rests with high command: Maken

AICC general secretary Ajay Maken on Sunday said there was no difference of opinion among party leaders in Rajasthan over the cabinet reshuffle plan and left the decision to the central leadership.

After meeting ministers, MLAs and office-bearers at the party office here, Maken said he has reposed faith in the party high command for the reshuffle decision.

Maken did not reveal any date for the cabinet expansion, but he will be in the state capital again on July 28. “I can say that there is no difference of opinion among the party leaders and all of them have left the final decision regarding cabinet expansion to the party high command,” he told reporters.

Maken reached the party office in Jaipur for a meeting with AICC General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal. He said issues like inflation and Pegasus issue were discussed. “The people of the country are suffering from high inflation, many people have lost jobs during the pandemic, and instead of spending money and resources for the people, the central government has used the resources to spy and spy on politicians, journalists and the judiciary. misused. It is highly condemnable,” he said.

To a question on BJP’s allegations against PCC chief and Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara for influencing the interview process of Rajasthan Administrative Services 2018 exam in favor of two relatives, Maken said that Dotasara was being cornered because he called on the RSS leader. Nimbaram and BJP were targeted. . RSS regional pracharak Nimbaram has been named in an FIR lodged with the Anti-Corruption Bureau in a corruption-related case and recently Dotasara had said that the state government would give “treatment” to the RSS leader.

Apparently he meant action against the leader. Maken said that he would come to Jaipur on July 28 and discuss with the MLAs the appointment of district and block presidents of the party.

Venugopal and Maken held discussions with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot late on Saturday night at his residence on the issues of cabinet reshuffle and political appointments. After Punjab, the party high command has shifted its focus to Rajasthan, where demands for cabinet expansion and political appointments have gathered momentum following reports of displeasure in the camp led by former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, who rebelled with 18 MLAs. Was. Last year under Gehlot’s leadership.

Three days ago, Pilot had indicated that the Congress would soon take suitable steps to address the issues raised by him. He had said that he was in touch with the party high command on the issues raised by him and hoped that necessary steps would be taken soon.

Pilot was sacked as deputy chief minister and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief in July last year after he rebelled against Gehlot’s leadership. After a month-long political crisis, the party high command announced the formation of a three-member committee to look into the issues raised by him. Last month, legislators from the Pilot camp said that the party should fulfill the promises made to Pilot last month, following which the demand for cabinet expansion and political appointments intensified.

At present, there are 21 members in the Council of Ministers, including the Chief Minister, and nine slots are vacant. Rajasthan can have a maximum of 30 ministers.
