Nitish government’s latest move: Bihar ministers are now entitled to buy vehicles worth Rs 30 lakh

Apart from these, officers of the rank of Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary and Secretary level are entitled to travel in vehicles costing up to Rs 20 lakh.

The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government on Tuesday announced that the purchase limit for ministers has been raised to Rs 5 lakh.

According to the notification issued by Finance Department (Resources Department) Secretary Lokesh Kumar on Monday, cabinet ministers of the Bihar government are now eligible to travel in vehicles costing up to Rs 30 lakh.

Earlier, they were eligible to travel in vehicles allotted by the state government, which cost less than Rs 25 lakh, which was passed by the state government in a notification in February 2020.

Sources said that some automobile companies have increased the prices of SUVs by more than Rs 25 lakh. Also, the starting price of some vehicles is around Rs 30 lakh.

Apart from cabinet ministers, judges of Patna High Court and other officers of similar rank can also buy vehicles worth Rs 30 lakh.

Apart from these, officers of the rank of Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary and Secretary level are entitled to travel in vehicles costing up to Rs 20 lakh.

Officers of the rank of Divisional Commissioner and District Magistrate can travel in vehicles costing up to Rs 18 lakh. District judges, superintendents of police and officers of the same category can travel in vehicles costing up to Rs 13 lakh, and SDMs, other officers below the rank of DSP and others can travel in vehicles costing more than Rs 11 lakh. .

As per the provision, these ministers, judges and officers are entitled to get vehicle facility by the state government.
