Nitin Gadkari shares stunning pictures of Goa-Karnataka NH17 Coastal Highway

The Union Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways has shared stunning pictures of the NH17 section of the Goa-Karantaka highway. Gadkari mentioned in a Twitter post that the 4-lane project in the state of Karnataka from Goa/Karnataka border to Kundapur section of NH-17 is nearing completion. The 187 km stretch of this highway has the Arabian Sea coast on one side and the Western Ghats on the other, making it one of the most picturesque highways in India with spectacular scenic views. The project is an important coastal highway link between West and South India.

Sharing an update, Nitin Gadkari said that currently 173 kms (92.42 % of the total work has been completed) and the traffic on the project is open, the rest of the project will be completed by December 2022. The strategic highway passes through various terrains; about 50% of its length passes through rolling terrain (45 km) and mountainous terrain (24 km).

The highway connects major cities and towns including Panvel, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Panaji, Margao, Karwar, Udupi, Surathkal, Mangalore, Kozhikode, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kanyakumari.

Nitin Gadkari said, “The project will reduce travel time, prevent accidents, optimize vehicle operating cost and help in saving fuel due to smooth road and reduce congestion for inter and intra-state commuters.”
