NIRF Ranking 2022: IISc Bangalore Best Universities in India, JNU, BHU, DU Among Top Rankers, Check List

IISc Bangalore is the best university in India as per the latest NIRF ranking released by education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on July 15. The rankings judge Indian institutions on several parameters including teaching-learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduate outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. Overall, the rankings are released for institutions in 11 categories and subject domains including college, university, engineering, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law, etc.

NIRF Ranking 2022 Live Updates

This year saw a sharp jump in the participation of institutions across the country in the NIRF rankings. A total of 7254 higher educational institutions enrolled for the rankings in 2022 as compared to 6272 institutions last year.

IISc Bangalore, JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia have been the top three positions in the university category. Here are the top 10 universities in NIRF rankings for 2022.

In 2021, the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore topped the NIRF rankings for universities, followed by the surprise entry of the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai at number two.

Registering a slight drop in its ranking, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi ranked third in the NIRF rankings in 2021, followed by the University of Hyderabad and Tezpur University, Assam at the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

The NIRF Rankings were introduced in 2015 with a view to create a nationalized ranking parameter for higher education institutions in the country. The first NIRF rankings which came out in 2016, were released in four categories based mainly on subjects.
