Nidhi Aggarwal: Would love to see Hindi remake of ‘iSmart Shankar’

Actress Nidhi Agarwal’s performance in the Telugu blockbuster iSmart Shankar cemented her place in the commercial cinema of that film industry. She can’t help but wonder if the film is adapted into Hindi if she would like to play the lead.

In the Telugu hit, actor Ram Pothineni played the lead role of iSmart Shankar. The film had all the elements to be a commercial hit. At a time when the boundaries between the Indian film industries are blurring, Nidhi feels that this Hindi remake will be equally successful.

“I would love to see this film being made in Hindi. I think if it is made in Hindi it will be a very entertaining film and it will do well again,” Nidhi told IANS.

When asked who should play Ram Pothineni in the Hindi remake, Nidhi replied with a childlike laugh: “I think Ram should play the role himself – or me, what do you say? Do I have to iSmart? Should become Shankar and kick some a**?”

The film was directed by Puri Jagannath and also starred actresses Nabha Natesh and Satyadev. This set the cash registers ringing at the box office and propelled Nidhi to massive popularity as ever before.

“I feel so proud that I am a part of the film because it was such a huge hit and I think it was the first time I came in front of a huge crowd. The crowd that I absolutely love. It was the first time. When I came in contact with that kind of love and attention and I absolutely loved it. I feel emotionally connected and close to ‘iSmart Shankar’ because of the people involved in the film. I am very much to everyone involved in the film. I love,” she says.

The vibrant actress made her acting debut with the 2017 Bollywood film Munna Michael. She then moved to Telugu films with the Naga Chaitanya-starrer Savyasachi.

She strongly feels that every film adds something to her life. “I think every film adds a lot and teaches you a lot as an artiste and it’s a different experience and a world. So, you learn a lot and eventually become a part of a world,” She says.

Referring to iSmart Shankar, which released two years ago on July 18, she adds: “This film changed a lot for me. It taught me a lot. Many more people knew me. I saw a difference in the way I was looked at and the way people saw me, and it brought people very close to me.”

On a parting note, Nidhi takes good time to praise her director Puri Jagannadh.

“My memory of the film is all amazing because of all the wonderful Puri sir who is my all-time favourite. I love him a lot as a director and as a person. I have great respect for him. So, it was so easy to work with him every day on the sets. It was the easiest shoot of my life so far. So, I have great memories shooting for ‘iSmart Shankar’,” says the actress, who will be seen in her next film with Pawan Kalyan.
