Nicole Kidman’s mother’s death became public knowledge after she won an award at the Venice Film Festival for her performance in Babygirl last Saturday. Director Halina Reijn, accepting the award on Kidman’s behalf, read out a statement from the actress.

Nicole Kidman took a moment to express her heartfelt thanks to her fans and friends for their support as she grieves the death of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman. In an emotional Instagram post, Kidman shared some cherished family photos from the past, alongside a touching message acknowledging the love she has received. The post included three pictures – a solo portrait of her mother Janelle and two others featuring Kidman and her sister Antonia with their mother. In her caption, Kidman wrote: “My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week.”

“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express. Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other,” the actress added.

Kidman’s celebrity friends were quick to share their condolences in the comments section. Lenny Kravitz left a touching message saying “My deepest condolences to you and the family. I am blessed to have been in her presence. Rest in power.”

Natalie Portman wrote, “So sorry for your loss, Nic. Sending you big love. Sending so much love to you both. So sorry for your loss. Your wonderfully spirited mum will be missed by so many. Hopefully she is now peacefully reunited with your papa love you.”

Janelle Kidman’s death became public knowledge after Nicole won an award at the Venice Film Festival for her performance in Babygirl last Saturday. “I’m in shock, and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her. I am beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken,” Nicole Kidman’s statement continued.
