After being away from the TV screen for almost three years, Nia Sharma is all set to make a comeback and entertain her fans. The TV actress, who was last seen in the comedy-drama Tenali Rama, is back with Kundali Bhagya. Nia’s fans will enjoy with her Tere Liye fame actor Shakti Arora, who has taken over from the show’s lead Dheeraj Dhoopar. In an interview with Times of India, Nia talks about her long break of three years. She has also revealed that it dragged on due to the loss of her father due to cancer in February 2020.
On why Tenali Rama left her overnight, Nia said it was tough for her to work on a “historic comedy” when her father was battling cancer and she was ferrying between Mumbai and her hometown. times of India Quoting her as saying, “I couldn’t do any work after Tenali Rama,” she shares. I had to leave the show overnight because my father was ill. He was battling cancer. Imagine doing a historical comedy when you are going through a big setback on the personal front. I am an only child and needed a shuttle between Mumbai and my hometown, Faridabad (Uttar Pradesh) to get her admitted to the hospital. ,
He said that despite doing everything possible and taking care of his father, Nia’s father passed away after two months. Nia said, “I stayed for my mother to sort everything out on the financial front.” Further, Nia revealed that after losing her father, for almost a year, the actress was not in a position to return to work. The actress said, “I was a mess. I still haven’t recovered from the loss and will never be able to, but I’ve learned to live with it now. I realized I had to go back to work, because I had no money.” There was scarcity, especially during the pandemic.”
Detailing her financial struggles during the pandemic, Nia revealed that her husband Anubhav Shah also had to take a pay cut during that period. Talking about herself, she revealed that she survived the crippling phase by working in commercials because it was “difficult to get a show”, as “the budget was slashed.” Describing Kundali Bhagya as a big opportunity, the actress said, “I was not getting even one-fourth of my original fee. Besides, good opportunities were not coming in my hands. In between, I shot several commercials to run my kitchen. I am happy to offer Kundali Bhagya at such times. It’s a big occasion for me.” For those who don’t know, Nia tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Anubhav in November 2019 at the events.
