Preliminary probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has been tasked with investigating the Bajrang Dal activist Harsha murder case in Karnataka’s Shivamogga, has found that the crime was committed to perpetrate communal violence in the backdrop of the hijab controversy. Sunday.

NIA officials, who visited Shivamogga and took all the documents and material regarding the Harsha murder case from the local police on Saturday, found that Harsha was murdered with a conspiracy and a plan to create communal violence. NIA sources also said that the agency has mentioned this aspect in its FIR.

Sources further said that the murder was also carried out to create fear and disturb the peace and harmony in the society. Home Minister Araga Gyanendra had also said that the investigation of the local police found that there was a communal agenda behind the murder.

He said, ‘I don’t think it is someone’s personal decision out of enmity. There is a possibility of a well-planned racket behind this. Who provided the finances, who conspired, who abetted, who supported them in the courts, aspects should be probed. The purpose of handing over the case to the NIA is to stop the killings of Hindu activists. Let the investigation begin and we will find out whether the criminals are in the state or in any other state.”

Harsha was murdered on February 20 in Shivamogga at the height of the hijab controversy. Curfew was imposed in Shivamogga district for seven days to control any incident of communal violence. The murder was followed by large-scale violence.
