We already know that Royal Enfield is working on introducing a new-gen model for the Himalayan adventure tourer in India, and now, the motorcycle has been officially teased by the company on its social media handles with the caption “Testing 1, 2, 3..”. While no details have been revealed along with the teaser, we expect the new Himalayan to be launched only next year considering it’s still in its testing phase.
The teaser video reveals the next-gen Himalayan in an off-road terrain with a water crossing. The test mule is equipped with a new LED headlamp, along with new LED turn indicators. The new beak of the adventure touring motorcycle is also visible in the teaser.
Other changes that are expected to be made to the new Himalayan include a new instrument cluster, upside-down front forks, a redesigned muffler, a new fuel tank as well as an updated seat. While the current-gen Himalayan makes use of a 411 cc single-cylinder air-oil cooled engine, the new Himalayan could be equipped with a larger 450 cc liquid-cooled unit, putting out around 40 hp of power and 45 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield currently retails the Himalayan at a starting price of Rs 2.15 lakh, going up to Rs 2.22 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). However, the introduction of the new Himalayan 450 will certainly result in a price hike.
Stay tuned to TOI Auto for further updates on the new Royal Enfield Himalayan, as well as other upcoming RE bikes.
