It was a star-studded event that recognized and felicitated the talents who have weaved magic on screen over the past year and a half. With this year’s News18 Shosha Reel Awards, we have taken our commitment to reward the best talent in the Hindi film industry to the next level. Among the many deserving winners, Kiara shone as the Star of the Year and was present at the event with her actor-husband Sidharth Malhotra.
The actress has impressed us with films like Govinda Naam Mera, Jugjag Jeeyo, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Shershaah in the recent past. Dressed in a yellow saree, she graced the stage with a big smile on her face as she accepted the award from Puneet Singh, CEO and President, Digital and Corporate Strategy, Network18. She thanked the audience and the producers of her four films.
“Good things take time and in fact it took me eight years or more. I’ve lost count. It’s been a long time since I heard this title – Star of the Year. I am sitting here amongst the brightest stars of our industry – star producers, star directors and star actors. I think you all will agree with me that audience is what makes us stars. So I have to thank the audience. I am extremely grateful that the four films that I have been a part of this year have received a lot of love from the audience.”
The actress also thanked Karan Johar as she collaborated with his Dharma Productions for three of her biggest films. He also gave a shoutout to all the producers of the film. The sweetest shoutout went to her husband Siddharth.
After Kiara’s acceptance speech, host Maniesh Paul talks about Kiara’s now famous bridal entry. The actress revealed that she was emotional but as soon as she saw Siddharth, she got excited to marry him. “If you’re married to someone you love, you’re going to feel that way,” he said. The audience broke into thunderous applause after witnessing this magical moment.
The award show was attended by the couple along with Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji, Neha Dhupia, Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor among many others.
