Medha Shankr has won the Rising Award for 12th Fail at the News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2024. The actress made her Bollywood debut in the Vikrant Massey-led starrer. Her performance quickly became one of the most talked about aspects of the film.
Actress Medha Shankr has created quite a stir with her performance in the Vidhu Vinod Chopra film’s 12th Fail. She became a sensation overnight after the movie’s release. The film was directed, produced, and written by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movie is based on Anurag Pathak’s 2019 non-fiction book of the same name. The film is inspired by the real-life stories of IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS Officer Shraddha Joshi.
While Vikrant Massey essays the role of Manoj, Medha portrays Shraddha. Recalling how Medha began her acting journey and bagged 12th Fail, she said in an interview earlier, “I started my cinematic journey as an actress in Mumbai in 2018. In 2022, I first auditioned for a movie at a casting agency. Then I did the screen test with Vidhu Vinod Chopra sir and the whole team, and then I finally got the project.” Medha said that she only had Rs 257 in her hand when she started her journey.
Medha made her acting debut with the British miniseries Beecham House in 2019. It was a historical drama television series set in 1795. Later, she also appeared in supporting roles in the Hindi film Shaadisthan and the series Dil Bekaraar.
Meanwhile, after a successful edition in 2023, the News18 Showsha Reel Awards soared to greater heights this year. The awards honoured and applauded the best of content across cinema and OTT. In a world where narratives unfold across various screens, it was a moment to recognise the brilliance that captivates, entertains, and leaves a lasting impact.
Several big celebrities including Karan Johar, Kartik Aaryan, Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee and Shankar Mahadevan among others also attended the News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2024.
