India is witnessing a remarkable surge in women’s empowerment, with groundbreaking strides made across various sectors. From shattering glass ceilings in corporate boardrooms to conquering the world of sports, Indian women are leaving an indelible mark on society. Following the triumph of its debut, News18 SheShakti returns with its highly anticipated second edition, set to honour the extraordinary achievements and contributions of women across India.
Themed “Breaking Barriers”, SheShakti 2024 will spotlight the diverse roles women play in advancing gender equality and driving societal progress.
India’s progress toward gender equality is evident through impactful policies and initiatives. For instance, 21 states have implemented a 50% reservation for women in local governance, and 84% of beneficiaries under the Stand-Up India scheme are women. Additionally, women account for 43% of STEM graduates in India—the highest percentage in the world—illustrating the significant strides women are making in education and professional fields.
Prominent women such as Manu Bhaker, who excelled at the Paris Olympics, not only highlight their sporting excellence but also serve as a source of inspiration for young girls across the country to pursue their dreams in athletics and beyond. The upcoming edition of SheShakti aims to spotlight these advancements by showcasing stories of women who are leading in various fields such as technology, science, sports, arts, and business and making their mark globally.

The event will host leading women from various sectors, including renowned scientists, accomplished business executives, celebrated athletes, and influential artists, all sharing their experiences and insights on overcoming barriers and achieving success.
