Himachal government has fixed new rules for the universities running in the private sector of the state. Now all 17 private universities will not be able to charge arbitrary fees. Because the fee structure for their academic session 2021-22 has been fixed. The university will no longer charge building funds, infrastructure funds, development funds from students. Tuition fees will also be charged in installments. A notification in this regard has been issued by Joint Secretary Education Navneet Kapoor.

Therefore, now no private university will be able to charge more fees than the fixed structure. If he does so then strict action will be taken against him. Rules have also been fixed for hostel fees. University management will not be able to collect hostel charges from students simultaneously. If the student takes a single room in the hostel, then his fee will be different. If two and three students share a room together, then its fee will also be different. Fees charged as hostel security will have to be refunded later.

New course will not be able to start without approval

Private universities will not be able to start any new course without the approval of the government. If a course has not been approved by the government and the fee structure of that course has been fixed by the fee committee, even then the course will not be valid. In the notification issued by the department, it has been said that private universities will have to recruit teachers as per the guidelines of UGC. The students of the university will have to be made aware of the various welfare schemes being run by the state government.

Complaints were continuously reaching the government

The government was constantly receiving complaints of arbitrariness regarding the fees of private universities, in which it was being alleged that private universities were charging various other funds including hostels, buildings. In such a situation, the government was constantly thinking about how to crack down on them. After brainstorming with the education department, the government has fixed the fee structure. In such a situation, now parents will also get relief from this decision.
