New Delhi: In meeting with LG, 32 MLAs raised ‘encroachment as their main concern’ – Henry Club

Sources said that in the meeting with Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the main concerns raised by the MLAs are concerns over encroachment in their areas.

Saxena has met 51 MLAs in the 20 days since taking over. Sources said that of these, 46 gave written information about their expectations from the LG and the help they needed.

“Of these 46 submissions, 32 say that the main concern in their areas is encroachment and unauthorized occupation. Be it vacant government land, roads, roads, parks and even drains, the problem of encroachment was marked as the main challenge. An official said that they sought the intervention of the Lt Governor to resolve it.

In the last three months, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has conducted several anti-encroachment drives even amid protests by residents.

Chief Minister in May Arvind Kejriwal Had a meeting with legislators on this issue. After the meeting, he had said, ‘I told them (MLAs) that even if we have to go to jail, don’t be afraid. You need to stand with the people. It is not right to drive a bulldozer like this, Grandpa, it is not right to do hooliganism. It’s not okay to abuse your power.”

Talking about the MLAs’ meetings with the LG, the official said, “32 MLAs brought to the LG’s notice in writing that ‘land mafia’ were occupying the Delhi Development Authority’s land, shops came up on the streets. And illegal construction was being done by ‘dishonest persons’. Encroachment on land… and ‘cattle barns’ being run for the purpose of unauthorized construction in heritage areas… LG assured action and sought cooperation. He said that he is hopeful that the MLAs will not indulge in party politics when steps are taken to remove the encroachment.
