Gurgaon: Travelling between Huda City Centre and the Sohna bus stand will now be easier, with the Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) launching a new route between the two locations.
According to officials, the new route — No. 120 — was launched on Monday and will connect the two areas via Ardee City, Mayfield Garden, Park Hospital, Vatika Chowk, Bhondsi, Rithoj village, Behlpa village, Kherla village, Damdama, Lohatki village and Khaika village. The entire route will be 35km long.
“At present, we have deployed two buses for this route. The number may be increased or decreased in the future depending on the footfall, as per the requirement,” said a senior GMCBL official.
The route may prove to be a critical one for the city. While Huda City Centre is the last station on the Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line and reports thousands of commuters every day, the Sohna bus stand is used by scores of commuters travelling outside Gurgaon for work and education daily.
Several stops along the route see a high volume of footfall as well, such as Park Hospital, Vatika Chowk and Damdama. The Sohna road, along which a bulk of the route will run, is a critical stretch in Gurgaon and sees a high volume of vehicular movement daily.
The launch of this bus service, residents hope, will reduce some of the traffic congestion. “Sohna road is a critical but severely congested stretch in Gurgaon. Hopefully, with some of the people switching to the bus service now, the number of vehicles on the road will be reduced,” said Anil Srivastava, a resident of Sector 50.
