New Delhi: Some ministers have been tasked with making presentations to their colleagues on how to improve efficiency at work and also share best practices. The first such presentation was made on Tuesday by Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and Dharmendra Pradhan, where all the ministers of the Narendra Modi government were present.
Sources said PM Narendra Modi asked all the ministers to learn from each other and stay grounded while dealing with people and issues. Sources said that there will be half a dozen such dialogues, which Modi has named ‘Chintan Shivir’. TOI has learned that the PM is likely to hold a meeting of all secretaries of central government departments on Saturday.
“This initiative is meant to share best practices among ministers, given that there are many new faces in the council of ministers. One of the focus of the government has been the need to prepare state ministers to take on bigger responsibilities. The PM urged all the ministers to maintain simplicity and find solutions to the problems. It is a good move to learn from each other,” said a source.
Sources said the ministers have been asked to respond promptly to letters and VIP references. Recently the Cabinet Secretary had also directed all the ministries to clear the backlog of VIP references within a month.
Just before the last cabinet reshuffle, the PM had asked senior ministers to intensify monitoring of their actions, listen to all stakeholders before taking decisions and keep their ears to the ground.
