New Academic Building with latest facilities in MNNIT Campus soon. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: State’s lone NIT- Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Allahabad- A new modern academic building will soon be received with all the latest facilities. The building will be constructed at a cost of Rs 37 crore. The Union Education Ministry has approved the budget for the construction of the institute.
According to Professor Rajeev Tripathi, Director, MNNIT, “The institute has now entrusted the construction responsibility to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the central agency, which has already done significant construction work in its campus.” This three storey building (ground floor + two floors), will be built adjacent to the existing library of the institute. He said that apart from library, washroom and power backup, the building will have hi-tech conference rooms and laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment.
As soon as the building is completed, some departments, such as the humanities and social sciences, mathematics, and electronics and communications engineering, may move into it, and others facing space constraints may be replaced on vacant sites. , Prof Tripathi said.
It is noteworthy that in the year 2019, the Central Government had directed to implement 10% of the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in educational institutions. Under this, 25 percent seats were increased in institutions including MNNIT.
The new building is being constructed to overcome the paucity of space and resources due to gradual increase of seats in the institute under EWS quota. After increasing the seats, the need to augment the infrastructure was acutely felt. With the higher percentage of students, it had become imperative to increase the infrastructure accordingly, explained the director.
Prof Tripathi said that a detailed proposal has been prepared and sent to the Union Education Ministry for approval and approval of the required amount. Now an amount of Rs 37 crore has been sanctioned for this and the institute has accordingly entrusted the work of construction of this new building to CPWD, which will soon start the construction work at the selected site in the campus. He said that it has already started the work of soil testing.
