Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has recently been in the limelight for his upcoming film Pathan. However, this time the superstar has grabbed headlines for his opinion on electric vehicles. The star was speaking after the launch of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV at the Auto Expo 2023. It is noteworthy that Shah Rukh Khan is the brand ambassador of Hyundai in India and was in Delhi for the launch of his new electric vehicle.
In his statement, Shahrukh said, ‘Never thought that I would see cars running on electric energy.’ Starr’s statement rings true, as a few years back, it was difficult to pin down the current growth of the electric vehicles market in India. Much of this growth can be attributed to growing environmental concerns and government support to promote these new powertrains.

Apart from using a comparatively more sustainable power source, OEMs are also trying to make EVs an overall eco-friendly option. The Hyundai Ioniq 5, launched by Shah Rukh Khan, uses sustainable natural and recycled materials for its interiors. Analogously, the recently unveiled Kia EV9 Concept uses materials such as natural wool yarns, recycled plastics, fishnet debris and plant-based materials.
Shah Rukh Khan also said in a lighter vein, ‘I want to tell Hyundai that whenever I come to Delhi to launch such a car, I should take one of these back with me.’ The light-hearted remark was greeted with applause by the audience. The Pathan star also addressed the high cost of electric vehicles in his light-hearted speech.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is all set for the promotion of his upcoming film Pathan. The trailer of the film was released a day back and has garnered over 28 million views on YouTube so far. Releasing on January 25, the action film also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone in pivotal roles.
