Nepal on Tuesday sent a diplomatic note to India on the issue of the recent clash in Dharchula, Uttarakhand. New agency ANI quoted sources in Nepal’s foreign ministry as saying that Nepal called for coordination between the two countries when it comes to building any infrastructure near the border.

Earlier on Monday (December 5) traders blocked a border bridge with Nepal for two hours in protest against stone pelting from the neighboring country at workers building a wall along the Kali river on the Indian border in Pithoragarh, an official said. Had given.

Dharchula SDM Divesh Shasni said on Monday that a worker was injured when stones were thrown from the other side of the river by locals on Sunday.

In neighboring Darchula, authorities resorted to baton-charge to disperse a mob pelting stones at construction workers, injuring an Indian businessman who was there for some personal work, he said.

Controversy broke out over building the wall

Nepalese people living near the border have been opposing the construction of the wall along the Kali River because they fear it will flood their territory.

The bridge between India and Nepal was closed from 7 am to 9 am and the blockade was lifted only after Nepali authorities assured that action would be taken against those responsible within three days.

Bhupendra Singh Thapa said, “The bridge was opened only after the Chief District Officer of Darchula (Nepal) contacted the Indian authorities and the SDM of Dharchula (India) and promised to take action against the stone pelters and lathicharged the Indian businessman ” President of Dharchula Traders Association

Thapa warned of resuming the blockade if the promised action was not taken.

Dharchula SDM said, “We have spoken to the Nepalese authorities regarding the stone-pelting incident and they have assured us of action against such elements, who are vitiating the atmosphere of harmony between the two countries.”
