Nepal: Helicopter with 6 onboard, including foreign nationals, goes missing

A private commercial helicopter with 6 people on board has gone missing in Nepal. As per initial reports, the helicopter was reportedly carrying 5 Mexican nationals. Manang Air helicopter 9N-AMV took off from Surke airport in Solukhumbu district for Kathmandu at 10:04 am.

“The chopper was on its way to Kathmandu from Solukhumbu and lost contact with the control tower at around 10 am,” said information officer Gyanendra Bhul. The helicopter with the call sign 9NMV went off the radar at 10:12 am (local time). There were 5 foreign nationals on board the missing helicopter.

…Total persons on board: 6 (5 passengers + 1 captain). “Altitude Air helicopter departs from Kathmandu for search and rescue,” the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal tweeted.

It is operating helicopters in commercial air transport within Nepali territory under the regulation of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. The company offers chartered services and focuses on personalized services such as adventure flights, helicopter tours or expedition work.
