As per media reports, more than 70 examination papers have been leaked in different states of India in the last 7 years, due to which the careers of many youth have been affected

Amidst the allegations of paper leaks and malpractices in connection with the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate 2024 (NEET-UG 2024), the Supreme Court on Thursday heard fresh petitions on the row. Hearing the pleas, the vacation bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice SVN Bhatti, refused to stay counselling of NEET-UG 2024.

In the last few years, there have been several reports of paper leaks in India. Following such cases, many examinations were cancelled. As per media reports, more than 70 examination papers have been leaked in different states of India in the last 7 years, due to which the careers of many youth have been affected.

Here’s a list of some prominent exam paper leak incidents in the country:

HSC Paper Leak in Maharashtra

A private college in Maharashtra was involved in the leak of a Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Mathematics paper in 2023, thereby raising questions on the integrity of the examination process. Later, the Mumbai police also found out evidence that suggested that the college had also leaked the Chemistry and Physics papers. The question papers were circulated via WhatsApp shortly before each examination and thereby gave an unfair advantage to many students.

Telangana SSC Paper Leak

In another case in 2023, a Hindi question paper was leaked during the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in a village at Telangana’s Warangal district.

The leaked paper was then circulated on social media, mainly WhatsApp, thereby alerting education officials and the district collector. An investigation later revealed that the paper was distributed after the commencement of the examination. This incident prompted authorities to take appropriate action to address the issue and prevent similar situations in the future.

Assam HSLC 2023 paper leak

In March 2023, the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) cancelled the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exams for English and General Science after they found out that the question papers were leaked. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu promptly ordered a CID investigation into the matter.

The General Science exam as well as the English exam was cancelled due to such reports.
