The Netherlands are set to take on Nepal in their opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The Group D fixture will be held at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on June 4. Ahead of the mega event, the Netherlands featured in a warm-up game against Sri Lanka and won the match by 20 runs. The Dutch unit was slated to play another practice match against Canada which was washed out due to rain.
Experienced batter Scott Edwards will serve as the captain of the Netherlands in this T20 World Cup. After they announced a 15-man squad for the multi-nation event, two players– Fred Klaassen and Daniel Doram– were ruled out due to injury issues. Kyle Klein and Saqib Zulfiqar were called up later to replace them in the team.
Nepal has sent a young unit for the T20 World Cup, with Rohit Paudel serving as the captain. The Asian side has kept faith in players who performed well at the ACC Premier Cup in Oman. All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee, who scripted a six-hitting record against Qatar in April, has retained in place in Nepal’s T20I squad. He will spearhead the batting department along with youngsters like Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh.
