NDPS special court rejects Armaan Kohli’s bail in drugs case

A special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) court on Thursday (October 14) rejected the bail plea of actor Armaan Kohli and two others arrested in a drug seizure case. Judge AA Joglekar rejected the bail plea. The detailed order was not yet available. Kohli was arrested on August 29 after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided his residence during which banned narcotics were allegedly seized. The actor had argued that only a small quantity of drugs were allegedly recovered from his possession, and thus he was entitled to bail.

The NCB opposed the application, claiming that the actor had direct links with the two main accused in the case, from whom a large number of “commercial” quantities of the banned substance were recovered.

Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, offenses involving commercial quantities (which vary for different banned substances) attract higher penalties. Earlier, a magistrate’s court had refused bail to Kohli.

actor acted in Salman Khan-Starter “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo” among other Hindi films, and was one of the contestants of the TV reality show “Bigg Boss”.
