NDMC renames Aurangzeb Lane in Lutyens’ Delhi as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Lane

New Delhi: The officials of the national capital’s New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) have announced that Aurangzeb Lane in Lutyens’ Delhi has been renamed as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Lane.

According to the information, NDMC has approved the proposal to change the name of this road in one of its meetings. The NDMC is reported to have renamed Aurangzeb Road as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road in August 2015.

NDMC Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay informed that as per clause (a) of sub-section (1) of Section 231 of New Delhi, ‘Aurangzeb Lane’ under NDMC area will be renamed Dr. APJ. For this an agenda was placed before the Council. Consideration of Abdul Kalam Lane, which has been approved.

The Maharashtra government has also changed the name of a bridge in Mumbai. The Shinde government has renamed the Versova-Bandra sea link as Veer Savarkar Setu. Apart from this, it has also been decided to change the name of Mumbai Trans Harbor Link to Atal Bihari Vayapayee Smriti Nhava Sheva Atal Setu.
