NDA SSB Interview-2022: 30% candidates fail only in medical test, know complete details from interview to final merit list

NDA exam is conducted twice a year
This exam is conducted twice a year by UPSC i.e. Union Public Service Commission. Students studying in 12th or who have passed 12th can apply in this exam. In NDA exam process, first written exam, then SSB interview, then physical test and medical test are conducted. It is necessary for the candidate to pass in all these exams. After this the candidate is given joining in NDA for the post of lieutenant.

The candidate selected in NDA has to study and train for the first 3 years in NDA. Then they are sent to IMA Dehradun or other wing institutes for 1 year training. After completing his studies, he gets a bachelor’s degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Students preparing for NDA are ready for the written exam, but there are many questions in their mind regarding the rules of SSB interview. That is why here we are going to tell about the complete schedule and rules of SSB interview…

Exam Pattern
NDA exam is of total 1800 marks. It consists of written 900 marks and SSB interview for 900 marks. Only the candidates selected in the written examination can appear in the SSB interview. This interview lasts for 5 days. In this, the test of mental and educational knowledge of the candidate is taken. In this 5-day long interview, new tasks are given to the candidate every day.

first day of interview
The candidates who pass the written examination of NDA have to report in a designated SSB board by UPSC. From there the process of their SSB interview starts. On the first day, there is a screening test of the students, in which the first is the Officer Intelligence Rating Test. In this, 50 questions from verbal and non-verbal reasoning are asked to the students. Students have only 30 minutes for this. Math questions are asked in this.
On the first day the students selected in OIR give PPDT test. In this, students are shown a picture for 30 seconds. Seeing and understanding this, they have to write a story. It is essential that the story should be linked to that picture.

The second but most important day of the interview
The second day of SSB interview is considered to be the toughest. On this day students also have to give Psychology Test, Ground Task Obstacle GTO and Personal Interview. It consists of 4 tests.

1.Thematic Appreciation Test TAT
The interviewing officer shows 11 pictures to the candidate in this test. Each picture is shown for 30 seconds. Seeing this, the candidate has to prepare a detail related to them and then write it on the blank screen.

2. Word Association Test (WAT)
This test is for the mental level of the candidates. In this, about 50-60 English words are shown, through this a story has to be prepared. These words are related to each other.

3. Situation Reaction Test (SRT)
This test is related to WAT, in which the candidate has to answer 60 questions. In the written question, 2-3 paragraphs have to be written.

4. Self Description (SD)
This test is the last, in which the students are asked questions related to their personal life.

3rd day of interview

On this day there is an interview in 5 parts.

Group discussion is conducted on the third day of the interview. In this, the opinion and ideas of the candidate are tested.

4th and 5th day of interview
Every day of SSB interview brings new challenges for the candidates. Like the third day, tests are also taken on the fifth day. In this the group changes. FGT is the final group test which is the last of the group task of the candidates.

Same day IO i.e. Individual observation test is taken. Personal performance of the candidate is assessed. On the last day of the SSB interview, the candidate is seated in a hall with the entire panel. The result of the last four days test is declared to the candidate. Selected candidates are sent for medical test.

Note- Any candidate can be called for interview at any time during these 5 days.

Now let’s talk about the medical test
The physical fitness of the candidates is checked in the NDA medical exam. The candidates have to fulfill the following criteria in the medical test.

Students should get their nose, ears and teeth cleaned before the medical, because in the whole selection process, about 30% of the candidates get passed out in the medical test only.

final merit list
The final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in written examination and marks obtained in interview. This year recruitment is out for a total of 400 seats. According to some defense experts, the expected cut-off for the written exam may be between 350-360 and the final cut-off may be between 704- 71.
The cut off marks for the written test will be counted out of 900 marks. It is necessary for the candidates to get the cut-off number to reach the SSB interview. Last years UPSC NDA cutoff numbers for the written exam are given in the table below. With this you can estimate your selection.

The final selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in written exam and SSB interview round. The final cut off marks will be counted out of 1800 marks (marks of written test + interview).
