NCP leader Nawab Malik’s son Faraz, his French wife booked for allegedly forging visa papers

MumbaiMumbai Police has booked Faraj Malik, son of former minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Nawab Malik, for allegedly submitting forged documents to extend the visa of his wife Hamleen. The Kurla police have registered a case under the Foreigners Act of 1946 and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against Faraz and Hamleen, who is a French national.

The case was initiated on the basis of a complaint by an officer of the Special Branch who detected the alleged forgery during investigation.

According to the police, Faraj had submitted fake documents between March 2 and June 23 last year. The alleged forgery occurred in 2020 and several other individuals have been charged in connection with the case. According to the police, Hamlin entered India in 2020 using forged documents. The forgery was detected during investigation by the Special Branch Officer and a formal complaint was made to the Kurla Police.

Submission of forged documents for the purpose of visa extension is a criminal offense and may result in imprisonment, fine and deportation. This matter is under investigation.
