Panaji, June 29 | The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted a drug racket in the beach village of Anjuna in North Goa in which an ice cream parlor was used to sell ecstasy tablets, in a statement issued by the drug-enforcement agency on Tuesday. Having said. .

The busting of the ice cream parlor was one of two raids conducted by the NCB, which led to the arrest of three people, including two Nigerian nationals, and the seizure of commercial quantities of ecstasy and LSD.

“Rock Jose Fernandez is a notorious drug smuggler in North Goa. He was earlier booked in two drug cases and is currently out on bail. He owns a hotel in Anjuna. Fernandez operated the drug racket of ecstasy from his ice cream parlor-cum-grocery store,” Sameer Wankhede, Regional Director, NCB, Mumbai and Goa, said in a statement.

“The drug orders were booked from their ice cream parlor and they delivered the consignment from a KS guest house in Anjuna to the mentioned address. The medicines were paid digitally using Google Pay etc,” said Wankhede, adding that a Nigerian associate of Fernandez, Chidi Osita Okonkwo alias Benjamin has also been arrested from Anjuna with 23 ecstasy pills.

A total of 240 grams of Nepali Charas was also seized from a vehicle of Fernandez.

In another raid, the NCB arrested another Nigerian national, Onayeka Egike, who was earlier charged with drug seizure by the Goa Police. 20 LSD blots were recovered from him.
