NBA postponed summer vs San Antonio Spurs as Miami unable to field minimum eight players

The Miami Heat’s NBA game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday was postponed as COVID concerns and injuries left Miami without a minimum of eight players available.

Three more Heat players entered the league’s COVID health and safety protocols on Wednesday, with Gabe Vincent, PJ Tucker and Zylan Cheetham joining the coronavirus absentee list along with Kyle Lowry, Udonis Haslem and Max Strauss.

The Heat were already missing a thumb injury as well as Bam Adebayo with injured Dwayne Deadmon, Markiff Morris and Victor Oladipo, and the Heat said on Wednesday that Jimmy Butler was unavailable with a sprain, which was given Tuesday. The 119–112 victory was late in the injury. On the Washington Wizards.

A dozen players were unavailable in all heats, and their emergency 10-day signings of Kyle Guy and Eric Holman did not adequately cover the void.

The Heat had planned to add Holman partly because he was within driving distance of Wednesday’s game as a member of the Spurs’ developmental G League affiliate in Austin, Texas.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that Vincent took a rapid COVID test after Tuesday night’s game and was left behind when the result was positive. Tucker – who was expected to return after missing four games due to injury – and Cheatham traveled with the team to San Antonio, where they were in isolation.

Heat coach Eric Spoelstra said Tuesday, “I’ve said it before, there’s no playbook you can refer to on this. It’s a little different than last year and it’s different than the year before. But it That’s where we are now.

“The most important thing is whether we can keep everyone healthy, everyone safe.”
