The DIG said, “Drones were used in Chhattisgarh 7-8 months ago. We are working in coordination with IG Bastar and SP and CRPF.”

Maharashtra Police said on Friday that Maoists are using small drones to monitor security forces near the borders of Chhattisgarh. Gadchiroli Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Sandeep Patil said, “Naxals are using small drones to monitor our posts near the Chhattisgarh border. In the last 4-5 months we have reported 7-8 incidents. All in all. Looking at the possibilities, we are taking anti-drone measures.”

“These small drones are usually used for photography in wedding ceremonies. They use these drones to check the locations of police teams and security teams from the mountains,” Patil said.

He said that in view of the drone incident in Jammu, Maharashtra Police has increased vigilance and is taking anti-drone measures.

When asked if there is any coordination with Chhattisgarh, the DIG said, “Drones were used in Chhattisgarh 7-8 months ago. We are working in coordination with IG Bastar and SP and CRPF. We have coordinated. Have made an anti-drone strategy with them.”

Patil further said that prima facie information suggests that the Maoists had procured the drones from Hyderabad.
