Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s public spat with his wife, producer Aaliya Siddiqui, has long been a topic of discussion in the press and on social media.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently had a theatrical release with the romantic comedy Jogira Sara Ra Ra, in which he played a matchmaker helping a girl get rid of her marriage. With the film, he returns to the limelight of a desi romance after a long time after Photograph and Motichoor Chaknachoor (both released in 2019). Over the years, Nawazuddin has been widely appreciated for his rustic and raw roles, but his romantic avatars have also found many fans. Case in point: His unexpected and borderline quirky chemistry with actor Huma Qureshi in Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 has earned itself a fan following.

Nawazuddin may not be an open book when it comes to showcasing the soft romantic boy that resides within, but in a recent conversation with News18, he opened up about life, love and romance. Speaking about how real love stories happen only in small towns in India, he tells us, “True romance happens only in small towns. What happens in the name of romance between people in big cities is compromise and adjustment. People in small towns aren’t afraid to speak their hearts out to each other because they don’t judge each other. He clearly says, “They fall in love without even taking into account the bank balance of the other person. Love and love is still a child in small towns.

The 49-year-old revealed that he has also been a matchmaker in real life and has helped some of his friends and acquaintances find love. Using his poetic skills, he often wrote love letters on her behalf. “I tried to be a matchmaker for my friends. Earlier we didn’t have mobile phones and had to send messages by writing letters. A lot of boys asked me to write letters to women on their behalf because I was a very good writer. In fact, Some of those matches were successful,” he says with a laugh.

So, would he call himself a romantic? “It is a good thing to love, to fall in love, to be in love and to spread love. Love is very important. I am very romantic person. I love my movies and many things in life. It is important to have a little romance in our lives. But today it is lacking,” says Nawazuddin.

On a related note, his public spat with his wife, producer Aaliya Siddiqui, has been a topic of conversation in the press and on social media. It started when she accused him of abuse and rape. Later, the actor also claimed that his wife only wanted money, a charge denied by Alia. She further claimed that she has applied for the custody of her children Shora and Yani. In April, the court ordered that their children return to Dubai to continue their studies. On the other hand, Alia recently revealed that she has already applied for divorce but the court has asked us to settle things outside the legal framework.

While Nawazuddin chooses not to comment on the consequences of discussing his personal life and marriage on a public platform, he tells us that he is in a happy place of mind today. “I am happy that my children are continuing their studies and are happy. Nothing pleases me more,” said the actor, who will soon be seen in films like Tiku Weds Sheru, Saindhav, Noorani Chehra and Haddi.
