Navjot Singh Sidhu holds first meeting as Punjab Congress President

Days after taking over as Punjab Congress chief, Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday held his first meeting with four working presidents of the party’s state unit and representatives of various fronts.

Sidhu met representatives of the party’s frontal organizations and cells including Youth Congress, NSUI, SC Cell, BC Cell and Legal Cell at Punjab Congress Bhawan here and listened to their views.

Sidhu had taken over as the Punjab Pradesh Congress President last Friday. He replaced Sunil Jakhar.

In addition, the party had appointed four working presidents- Sangat Singh Gilzian, Sukhwinder Singh Daini, Pawan Goel and Kuljit Singh Nagra to assist Sidhu in the next assembly elections.

Talking to reporters after the meeting that lasted for nearly four hours, Goyal said that Sidhu first held a meeting with the four working presidents.

This was followed by a meeting with representatives of frontal organizations and various cells.

Danny, another working president, said the agenda of the meeting was to further strengthen the party in the state.

However, Sidhu did not speak to the media.
