Navjot Singh Sidhu calls Amarinder Singh a ‘spent cartridge’, starts a new war of words

Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, saying he will be remembered as the ‘Jaichand’ (a staunch traitor in mythology) of Punjab’s political history.

Sidhu, with whom Amarinder Singh was at loggerheads, said in a series of tweets that he was a negative force preventing justice and development of Punjab. “No pain that Mercy will not insult! Were you casually ousted for good governance? And the 18-point agenda strangled the worst performing CM of Punjab… Will be remembered as the Jaichand of history, you are indeed a costly cartridge.”

“We, 78 MLAs of Congress, could never imagine what we got in a hand-twisted, ED controlled BJP loyalist Chief Minister of Punjab @capt-amarinder who sold the interests of Punjab to save his skin ! You were a negative force obstructing justice and development of Punjab,” Sidhu said in another tweet.

Sidhu said a three-member committee was formed to make the senior Congress leader “accountable” as it was known that he was colluding with Badal and the BJP. “Was it a pity, that a 3-member committee was formed to hold you accountable? Why? Were the MLAs against you? Because everyone knew you hit the cloud! You only want to defeat me “Do you ever want to win Punjab? Your 75/25 dealings with Badal and the BJP are very clear.” He said in another tweet.

Attacking the former chief minister’s move to start a political party, Sidhu said: “Last time when you formed your party, you lost your vote, got only 856 votes… People of Punjab reunited with Punjab. Waiting to punish you for compromising the interests of

Responding to the allegations, Singh told a press conference in Chandigarh, “He doesn’t know anything, talks too much and has no brains.”

Singh had said last week that he would launch his party soon, and hoped to have a seat adjustment with the BJP, provided the farmers’ agitation against agricultural laws is resolved in his interest. “I’m having a party. But I can’t tell you the name right now. I can tell you only when the Election Commission approves a name and symbol. Wait for the approval of the Election Commission.” “We have requested a symbol and a name for the party,” he said.

Amarinder Singh had resigned as the Chief Minister of Punjab last month amid a power struggle with Punjab Congress chief Sidhu. After resigning, he said he felt “humiliated”. Congress appointed Charanjit Singh Channi in place of Amarinder Singh.
