The crisis for the Congress party in Punjab has not averted even after Captain Amarinder Singh’s resignation as the Chief Minister. According to sources, the party’s state president Navjot Singh Sidhu is now adamant on becoming the chief minister.
Sources also say that this time the Congress party will also appoint a Deputy Chief Minister. The decision on the new Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab is likely to be taken on Sunday.
Sources said that if the chief minister is a Sikh then the deputy chief minister will be a Hindu and if the chief minister is a Hindu then the deputy chief minister will be a Sikh.
After the resignation of the Captain, it was decided in the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party of Punjab that Sonia Gandhi would decide on the next Chief Minister of the state.
After leaving the post of CM on Saturday evening, Amarinder Singh fiercely targeted Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Terming Navjot Sidhu as anti-national, dangerous, unstable, incompetent and a threat to the state and the country’s security, Amarinder Singh said he would fight any move to make the Punjab Congress president the chief minister.
Clarifying that he had no intention of quitting politics, Amarinder Singh said there was no question of supporting Sidhu, who was clearly mixed with Pakistan and a threat to Punjab and the country- There was a disaster as well.
The outgoing chief minister hit out at Sidhu for his close alliance with the cross-border leadership, saying, “I cannot allow such a person to destroy us, I will continue to fight issues that are bad for his state and its people.” Huh.”
“We all have seen Sidhu hugging Imran Khan and General Bajwa and singing for the Prime Minister of Pakistan at the inauguration of the Kartarpur Corridor while our soldiers were being killed on the borders every day,” he said, adding, Ex- The cricketers had attended Imran’s swearing-in ceremony even though he (Amarinder Singh) categorically told him not to do so.
“The government of Punjab means India’s security, and if Sidhu is made the face of Congress for the chief minister’s post, I will fight him at every step,” he said.
