NAVI MUMBAI: The Vashi Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court amicably settled and disposed of 334 litigation cases in a day. National Lok Adalat was held on December 11 and has recovered Rs 4.43 crore as a settlement amount.
Out of 16,072 pending cases, 6,956 cases were heard, of which 5,056 were post litigation matters. Out of these, 288 cases were disposed of and recovery of Rs.3.47 crore was made. Whereas, a total of 1900 pre-trials were heard, but only 46 cases were disposed of with a total recovery of Rs 95.59 lakh. Besides, 44 cases were also resolved online. The cases were related to MSEDCL bill, bank recovery, traffic e-challan, matrimonial dispute, check bounce, criminal compoundable cases, civil and petty matters.

“Out of 1900 pre-litigation cases, 670 cases were of electricity bill dispute, except non-compoundable offences, in which the parties cannot settle on payment. The remaining 1230 petty cases involving non-cognizable offenses relating to traffic, RTO, police action But, only 46 cases were settled out of which Rs 40.19 lakh was recovered after disposal of 34 electricity bill cases and Rs 55.79 lakh was recovered after disposal of only 12 minor cases.
Advocate Patil said, “In the post-trial cases, pending litigation, out of 3542 cases of check bounce u/s 38 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, majority of the cases were taken up for hearing but with recovery of Rs. Only 96 cases were settled after settlement. Eight bank recovery cases were taken up but none of them were settled. Also, out of 23 matrimonial dispute cases, 14 cases were resolved amicably In addition, 1,086 cases of criminal compoundable offenses were taken up, out of which 139 cases were resolved physically, 82 cases were resolved physically and Rs 4.98 lakh was recovered and 57 cases were disposed of through virtual and hybrid hearings amounting to Rs 5000. done with.
