Narendra Giri’s body was found hanging from the ceiling of his room on Monday evening at Shri Math Baghambri Gaddi of Georgetown police station area.
Mahant had accused Anand Giri and two others Bade Hanuman temple Aadhya Prasad Tiwari and her son Sandeep Tiwari have alleged mental torture in their suicide note.
The police on Monday night registered an FIR against Anand Giri under IPC section 306 (abetment to suicide) on the complaint of Amar Giri Pawan Maharaj, an employee of the Math.

The police also got the accused medically conducted at a government hospital before presenting them in the CJM court.
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, the UP Police team brought Anand Giri from Haridwar to the Reserve Police Line at Prayagraj. Later, Anand Giri, priest Ada Prasad Tiwari and his son Sandeep Tiwari were taken into custody for questioning.
Anand Giri, Aadhya and Sandeep were questioned for hours by a team of senior police officers.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning, a five-member panel of doctors conducted the post-mortem of Narendra Giri at SRN Hospital amid tight security. The police had barricaded the road leading to the postmortem house.
Videography of the post-mortem was also done.
Though senior police officials remained silent, highly placed sources told TOI that suffocation due to hanging was attributed to Mahant’s death.
An 18-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to probe the death and it also started collecting evidence.
Meanwhile, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya told reporters in Prayagraj on Wednesday that “detailed investigation into the death of ABAP chief Narendra Giri is underway and the culprits will not be spared”.
“All aspects of the matter are being investigated and the police is moving in the right direction,” the deputy CM said.
