Nandish Sandhu: Due to lack of work, he has gone through financial crisis, desperation. Unique

From Uttran to Beintehaa and Ahunche 2, Nandish Sandhu has come a long way. The actor has also acted in several films including Girl in Red and Family of Thakurganj. However, it was not easy for the actor. In a recent interview with News18.com, Nandish Sandhu recalled his struggling days and revealed how difficult it was for him when he decided to leave television for Bollywood. The actor mentioned that he faced many rejections and was repeatedly told that he should wait before venturing into films.

“When I was making this transition from television to films, for a very long time, almost two years, everybody just kept telling me that you’re a television actor and to film, you have to wait or what do you have to forget. You’ve done that in television. These are the struggles I faced. Sometimes, it got frustrating. Sometimes, I felt like I just go back to what I was doing,” he said.

Nandish also mentioned that repeated rejections only added to his frustration. The actor also revealed that he was not getting enough work, due to which he also faced financial issues. “I have gone through financial problems. I have gone through a phase where I was disappointed because I was not getting enough work or I was not getting calls for good work. It was difficult for me to reach people.”

However, the Undekhi 2 actor also mentioned that he decided to turn his rejection into Prerna. “Then I always thought I’d waited until now, let’s wait more,” he said.

Nandish also told News18.com that he didn’t let his despair overwhelm him and that his only goal was to grow. “Rejection was a big part of my motivation because I knew when I met some people, they would say ‘No, you’re so patient. You’ll do well’. My motivation was when I waited so long, I Why waste it! I didn’t want that waiting time, to overwhelm that frustration and force me to go back to what I didn’t want at the time. I wanted to grow.”

Describing his struggles, Nandish also mentioned that it was difficult for him to contact people during his early career days and leaving WhatsApp messages was not an option. “I am talking around 2008-09, there was internet and social media, but now it is not so. The struggle was to have meetings with people, it was difficult to contact people, locate or call their numbers, or leave a text message. In those days it used to happen that if you leave a WhatsApp message to someone, they get annoyed by it. ‘Oh, he messaged me on WhatsApp!’,” he laughed.

Adding to this, Nandish also recalled an incident when a director complained to his manager for sending him a WhatsApp text about him. “If you send a WhatsApp message to a director, they will get annoyed. I received a complaint, one of my manager, who asked me ‘You messaged the director on WhatsApp (Did you send a WhatsApp message to that director)?’ I told him yes. He said, ‘He didn’t feel bad. she does not like it. You should have sent him an SMS’. Time changes! These were the struggles of that time. Had to find ways to contact people,” he shared.

Nandish also said that it has become easier now to contact people and added, “It is very easy now. You want to meet someone, you want to say hello to someone, you want to contact someone for work, even if you don’t have a contact number, you have social media. You can tweet or message on Instagram. That’s how things have become easier.”

“The struggles are different now. Now the struggle is how not to, rise above all this negativity on the internet,” concluded Nandish.

On the work front, Nandish recently made his OTT debut with the second season of Undekhi. It is a crime thriller which also stars Harsh Chhaya, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Surya Sharma and Aanchal Singh among others.
