Namma Metro News: Tunneling work of Namma Metro; The solution entered the house, the family shifted. Bengaluru News – Times of India

Bangalore: Due to difficulties Namma MetroTunneling seems to be a never-ending task for Shivajinagar residents. On Monday night, slurry entered a house on Shivaji Road near Government VKO School, allegedly due to underground work.
Affected resident Mohsin Samad told TOI: “We are a family of five, including a 58-year-old differently-abled woman, who is on oxygen support. The floors of the house are flooded. Most of the items including furniture have been damaged. We were forced to shift to a neighbor’s house. It is difficult to face such a dire situation during the pandemic. We have not received any information from BMRCL or the contractor regarding this work.
After the incident, Mr. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials visited the spot. “The leak happened at 11 pm on Monday. The solution has been cleaned and necessary grouting has been done. The occupants have been evacuated safely. BMRCL Public Relations Officer BL Yashwant Chavan said that the layer of sandy soil in this area causes leakage on the surface.
This is the second incident in the same area in less than a week. Water entered the ground floor of a three-storey building on Shivaji Road on Wednesday. In the past too, there have been reports of damage to buildings and roads during tunnel construction.
Social activist Nafisa Khan said: “These things are happening regularly in this area. BMRCL should conduct survey to identify weak and vulnerable buildings. Most of the residents of the area are having sleepless nights as they fear that something might go wrong. BMRCL should form a committee with members consisting of residents, contractors and engineers. They should rehabilitate the residents till the work is over.”
no need to worry
BMRCL is taking all preventive measures.
BL Yashwant Chavan, public relations officer of BMRCL, said, “We had identified unsafe structures in the tunneling work areas. We are making all efforts to minimize the hardships faced by the residents. There is no need to panic.”
