The Dutch were easily blown away by a brilliant four-for-ball performance by Ireland pacer Curtis Camper and will look to quickly forget the seven-wicket loss to register a win against Namibia in a Group A game. In the fray for the Super 12 berth.

Colin Ackermann, Ryan ten Dochte, Scott Edwards and Roelof van der Merwe in the 10th over fell to Camper for successive deliveries, leaving the Netherlands in disarray.

Only Max O’Dowd stood in ruins with a 47-ball 51 after the Netherlands were reduced to 51 for six. He hit seven fours.

The Netherlands would not want to repeat such shoddy batting performances when they face lower-order Namibia, who lost to Sri Lanka in their opening match, as the defeat would put them out of contention for a next-round berth.

The likes of Ten Dochet, best remembered for his incredible century against England in the 2011 World Cup, would go on to score big against the Namibian bowlers and help the team win their first match.

Captain Peter Seelar, a 15-year veteran in international cricket and who scored 21 runs against Ireland, will be another key player for the Netherlands.

For the inexperienced Namibians, captain Gerhard Erasmus and veteran all-rounder David Wiese, who have previously played 24 T20Is for South Africa, are crucial as they will look to make their mark in the tournament after a seven-wicket loss to Sri Lanka.

Playing in their first match in a global event, the Namibians were bowled out for 96 in 19.3 overs with only three batsmen, including Erasmus, reaching double-digit figures after being sent in to bat.

The inexperienced Namibian batting collapsed after the fall of Erasmus.

They could not score as quickly as they wanted in the face of some stiff bowling from Sri Lankan fast bowlers and would have to do better against a less hardcore side than the Lankans.

Wiese, who was highly expected, scored just six runs in seven balls and would look to score a big total against the Netherlands.

Defending a small total, the Namibian bowlers gave a decent account of themselves, creating some waves when they cheaply riddled three of Sri Lanka’s top batsmen inside the powerplay overs.

But the total was too small to be defended. Sri Lanka chased down the target in 13.3 overs.
