A day after breaking his 34-year-old ties with the BJP, Ravindra Bhoyer, a former RSS swayamsevak and sitting corporator from Nagpur, on Tuesday submitted his nomination papers as the Congress candidate from the local constituency for the upcoming elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Entered. Bhoyer will face BJP candidate and former minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who will replace outgoing MLC Girish Vyas from Nagpur. Bhoyer’s candidature for the upcoming elections was announced by the Congress late on Monday night.

The four-time corporator was associated with the BJP for the last 34 years. He had served as the Deputy Mayor of Nagpur in 1997. His father Prabhakarrao Bhoyar had served as an RSS pracharak from 1949 to 1956 and was jailed during the Emergency.

Bhoyar Sr. had served in various positions in the RSS headquartered in Nagpur. Ravindra Bhoyar had said that senior leaders like him were sidelined in the BJP for the past few years. He said he was alienated by the BJP leadership in the party, which forced him to step down. Bhoyer had said that his family is associated with the Sangh for more than 70 years, but I am leaving the BJP with a heavy heart for my self-respect.
