“The election has been peaceful so far and people have come out to vote for BJP and NDPP. We have been able to garner the support of the people and as the morning shows, we are confident that the BJP will win more than 12 seats.

The state BJP president said, ‘I exercised my franchise in the morning after offering prayers to God. People love BJP, NDPP and they love Imna Along. That’s why they have come.”

When News18 asked about his popularity and his witty social media posts, the Minister of State for Higher Education and Tribal Affairs replied politely in fluent Hindi.

“Simplicity is the key recipe. You need to show what you are, and we need to take this narrative to the world. People don’t know much about Nagaland or Manipur or Mizoram and hence their approach is different. Northeast is a beautiful place with good people. They look different. Their eyes may be small but they see things big and clear. We are small in stature, but big in heart.”

On the eve of the assembly elections, the minister, with his impeccable wit and humour, tweeted a picture of a baby in his arms and captioned it in a mix of English and Hindi: “Just telling him! Grow up to be a good person [Grow up to be a good human being], Doctor, Engineer and banker also think out of the box. [Think out of the box even if you don’t become doctor or engineer],

The share has received close to 6.5 lakh views since being tweeted.
