Telugu star Naga Chaitanya has said that the decision to separate from his wife Samantha was taken in their mutual interest.
Naga Chaitanya replied, “My entire family stood by me during those difficult times. It was a decision taken in the best interest of both of us. He is happy. I am also happy. We both are doing well professionally as well. Huh.” A media question on how he overcame the tough times in his personal life.
Naga Chaitanya was speaking at an event to mark the completion of his latest film ‘Bangaaraju’. The film, directed by Kalyan Krishna and starring his father Nagarjuna, is set for theatrical release on January 14, coinciding with the Sankranti festival. The film also stars Kriti Shetty.
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya got married in October 2017. The two had announced their separation in October last year. The two released statements on their respective social media accounts, which read, “After much deliberation and deliberation, (we) have decided to separate as husband and wife to continue on our path.”
The announcement on social media, four days before their fourth wedding anniversary, had generated much curiosity in the public and media circles. So far, the two have not disclosed the reason for their separation. However, a report in BollywoodLife claimed that Chaitanya’s family was not happy with Samantha’s decision to do the bold role.
While Naga Chaitanya’s last film ‘Love Story’ directed by Sekhar Kammula did well at the box-office, Samantha’s item number in Allu Arjun-starrer ‘Pushpa’ became a national sensation. Both have different film projects in the coming days.
