These days Sudha Chandran is seen in the sixth season of Ekta Kapoor’s superhit show Naagin. Prior to this, she worked in several popular shows and films including Malamaal Weekly, Kahin Kisi Roz, and Kyun Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. However, in a recent interview, Sudha Chandran revealed that even after spending 35 years in the industry, she is asked to audition.
“I say very openly, I don’t audition. What is my 35 years of input in this industry if I want to audition, and if you don’t know my caliber, I don’t want to work with you, The actress told Pinkvilla.
Sudha Chandran told that despite 35 years of experience being asked to audition is an insult to senior actors. The actress also revealed that she had raised the same issue with CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes Association). “I still have scripts where people say, ‘Ek kaam ki jiye na, look test ke diye diye’. I said, ‘Look what, my face aapse paas hai, dekho aap karega’, and that’s when most of the time chose me. If I go, I work on my looks. I am talking to Cinta about it. I said, ‘Senior actors who have completed 30-35 years should not be a victim of this humiliation.’
The actress further said that such things are hurtful, inhuman and cruel. Sudha also questioned whether any cameraman or cinematographer is asked to showcase their work. “I was pretty straightforward when I said this. A cameraman, a cinematographer, a DOP who’s done great movies and is out of work today, they don’t need to go, light up and show, ‘Well that’s my job. ’. I mean why do you want us to go and audition? Today with just one touch you can get all of our work,” she said.
Smiling down the memory, the actress also talked about being demotivated by a producer. Sudha Chandran reveals how once a producer told her that she was not fit for the film industry. “Why are you still in the industry? You won’t have anything here, try something else,” the actress quoted the producer.
