At the national level, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will lose at least 110 seats, claimed Sanjay Raut while talking to reporters.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday claimed that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance of his party, the Congress and the NCP would win at least 40 Lok Sabha and 180-185 assembly seats in Maharashtra.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, he claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would lose at least 110 seats at the national level.

He said, “This is not the season for ‘lotus’ (BJP’s election symbol). I don’t see any lotus in the market today. There are many more flowers in the market and you will soon see many more flowers.”

On speculation about NCP leader Ajit Pawar, Raut said Pawar had clarified that the reports of his quitting the party were false.

He said it could be Operation Clock (NCP’s election symbol), Operation Mashal (Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena’s election symbol) or Haath (Congress’s election symbol) and anything is possible in politics.

The opposition has in the past termed the BJP’s attempts to poach MLAs from other parties as ‘Operation Lotus’.

Raut said that rumors were ‘deliberately’ spread about Ajit Pawar, but now a ‘full stop’ has been put on them.

He said that those in power are now on weak ground, and hence they are trying to create confusion and unrest in the MVA, but there will be no crackdown in the alliance.

Asked about Ajit Pawar expressing displeasure over his previous comments about the NCP’s internal issues, Raut said, “We are the saviors of the MVA and it is our duty to save the alliance.”
